About

Jo is a letterpress printer, artist & maker. Her multi-passionate practice includes the handcrafting of everyday goods such as notebooks & greeting cards, books & posters. Jo sees the making of everyday items as a humble yet noble occupation that brings beauty into our daily lives, duties and rituals and enables us to find the poetry in mundane or often overlooked activities.

Her work draws heavily from her artistic practice, the natural surroundings of the Australian countryside and coastal areas, which help her connect with childhood stories and memory. Her love of language, both poetic and pragmatic underpins her letterpress stationery, along with both bold typography and vulnerable handwritten text - one of the many paradoxes you'll find in her work.

After almost ten years as the co-founder of Olive Letterpress (formerly Olive & The Volcano) her eponymous studio aims to combine her varied skills, passions, processes and materials under one label. Her work has been seen in Country Style Magazine, Peppermint Magazine, Inside Out Magazine, Home Beautiful, Uppercase, Fashion Journal and at the The Big Design Markets and Finders Keepers Markets throughout Australia.  Jo's stationery ranges have been distributed throughout Asia and have been included in retail stores throughout Australia, Europe and the United States.

Her original artworks have been acquired by the Ballina Shire as part of their Corporate Collection and are also included in private collections in Australia and Internationally. Her work can also be seen in commercial spaces such as the W Hotel in Brisbane Australia.
